pre-workout food is genuinely confusing me

Honestly I've been going back and forth on this for months. Some people swear by training fasted, others are like no you need carbs an hour before, and I'm just standing in my kitchen at 8am on a Saturday trying to figure out if a banana is enough or if I need an actual meal. I've settled into eating something small about 45 mins before — lately it's been a piece of toast with peanut butter or just some oats if I've got time. Nothing heavy. The one time I had a big bowl of pasta before a run I thought I was going to die around the 20 minute mark so that taught me something. Ains reckons I should be more consistent about it but tbh my weekends are all over the place depending on what brunch plans look like after. I mean it's not exactly scientific what I'm doing but it seems to work for me — I feel less rubbish than when I train on completely empty. Mind you I've got no idea if I'm actually doing this right.

fasted training never worked for me, felt flat by the end of every session

yeah but only if you give it enough time 😅

toast with peanut butter before a session is honestly underrated, carbs + a bit of fat and protein does the job without sitting heavy
